Ibrahim Sagna

Ibrahim Sagna (pronounced “San Ya”) is an institutional platform builder with over 28 years of experience in global finance. He has been involved in over $30 billion of company related financings in Africa and other emerging markets.

Mr. Sagna serves today as the Executive Chairman of Silverbacks Holdings, an alternative investment firm acquiring strategic stakes in select private technology companies, sports franchises, entertainment and media properties across Africa, the Arabian peninsula and Asia. Prior to Silverbacks, Mr. Sagna played diverse roles within investment-grade-rated multilateral institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), and private capital investors such as the Emerging Capital Partners (ECP), and Millennium Global Investments.

He serves as board director of the Founders Factory Africa, FEDA (Fund for Export Development for Africa), as an advisory board member for Utopia Capital Management in UK, Beacon Media in UAE and UNDP innovative Finance Lab in Ethiopia, and as a mentor at Tim Draper’s Draper University in California. He serves as well on the Governing Body of the Global Sports Summit, and is the Vice-Chairman and a Founding Partner of the Cape Town Tigers, the 3X South African basketball champion club that participates in the BNL and in the NBA’s league in Africa, the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Mr. Sagna holds a Master’s Degree in Finance from Boston College, besides executive degrees from Harvard Business School, London Business School, and INSEAD.
